Notes From The Office

Principal’s Message
I wanted to let you know how impressed I am with your amazing support of GWA. This is truly an amazing school and I consider it a privilege to be a part of it. We have the best faculty and staff and your children are truly a wonderful group of students. I look forward to a great future and know that GWA will continue to provide quality educational experience for its patrons.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN SERVING ON
THE GWA BOARD?

Please write a letter, addressed to the board, expressing your interest. Seal it in an envelope, and turn it into the front office by the end of school, Friday May 7th.

DIVE INTO READING
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.”
-Margaret Fuller-first full-time book reviewer in journalism.

You read and read and read. Now you can swim
and swim and swim. The annual Dive Into Reading Pool Day at the Washington City Community Center will be
held Friday, May 7, anytime during pool operation
hours of 12:30-8:30pm. All eligible students will be receiving a packet of information the week before the swim day. Any questions about eligibility should be addressed with your student’s teacher. It is a great time to get geared up for two of summer’s best activities-reading and swimming. See you there!

The President's Corner

Can you believe the school year is nearly finished? And what a year it has been! I have been so blessed to  meet so many of you and work side by side as we have accomplished activities and events for our children. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the many parents, grandparents and families who have stepped up to help make GWA an amazing place for our children to learn and grow.
It has been an incredible experience for my personal growth as well and I’ll remember this year with great
fondness. The time has come to turn the reigns over to another group of dedicated and willing parents. The PTO of GWA is a unique organization with many opportunities for service and growth. I would love to have time to train and mentor a new Presidency but the school year is growing short and no one has indicated a willingness to take over thus far. We need parents to step forward and work with our children through the organization of the PTO.
Many of the activities and programs of GWA are sponsored and carried out by the PTO. I would hate to see them not happen. It’s easy to assume that “someone else” will do it but that’s not the case. Please reevaluate where your life stands and your commitment to GWA. The most important qualification is a willingness to serve. The work is easily shared with a group of willing and working hands. Please consider serving for the 2010-11 school year. You are needed!! It's Time For Willie Wonka!!
GWA Presents “Willie Wonka Kids”- an MTI Kids Musical Production.

Dates: May 6-7, Thursday and Friday, 7:00 PM at the school. FREE admission.

This show is approximately 50 minutes long, and suited for all ages. Sixty students, grade 3-8 will sing, act and dance the story of Willie Wonka, his famous Golden Tickets, and the lucky children who find them.

The show is directed by Kathleen Whiteside, music teacher at GWA. Sound production is by Tim Taylor, and
lighting is by Brent Innes of Dixie State College.
Community support has been given by LOWE’S, WALGREEN’S and BLUE BUNNY. We are grateful!

We invite everyone to enjoy this fun show, and there will be some prizes given out each evening. We especially want to invite all of our incoming students for next year - welcome to our family!
